Winging It: Starting a Kindness Business Without a Clue

If you’re here reading this, you might think I have everything figured out. Spoiler alert: I don’t. I’m not a writer. I’m not a blogger. I’m definitely not a social media guru. What I am is someone with an idea and a lot of heart. And while I’m figuring this out as I go, one thing is clear: this business—Hidden Hug—means everything to me.
Let me back up a little. Right now, I’m stuck in a job that doesn’t inspire me. It pays the bills, sure, but it feels like I’m just going through the motions. For years, I’ve told myself, One day, I’ll start my own business. But I kept putting it off because, let’s face it, starting something new is terrifying. There’s no safety net, no guarantee of success, and no handbook to follow.
But then I realized: if I’m going to take a risk, why not take it on something that truly matters to me? Why not build something that can make the world a little better, even in the smallest ways? That’s how Hidden Hug was born.
This idea isn’t just about kindness—it’s about meaningful, anonymous kindness. It’s about those little moments where someone feels seen, cared for, and uplifted without knowing who was behind it. It’s about creating a ripple effect of positivity and giving people a reason to smile.
And what better way to give back than to also donate a portion of each message to charity? Kindness should never stop at just one person.
But let me be real with you: I’m winging it. I’m learning how to run an Instagram account and figuring out hashtags on the fly. I’ve spent way too many late nights Googling “how to write a blog” or “how to market a small business.” Every step feels like a shot in the dark, but I keep reminding myself that progress doesn’t have to be perfect.
So if this website or blog looks a little rough around the edges, that’s because it is. It’s not polished, and it’s not run by some fancy marketing team. It’s just me, trying my best to spread a little light in the world.
Starting this business has been messy, scary, and completely outside my comfort zone—but it’s also been the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever done. I don’t know where this journey will take me, but I do know this: Hidden Hug is a business that comes straight from my heart.
If you’re following along, thank you. If you’ve found one of my messages or gifts, I hope it made your day. And if you’re dreaming about taking a leap of your own, let this be your sign. You don’t need to have it all figured out to start. Just start.
With love and a lot of learning along the way,
Mr. Hidden Hug
